Esprit Dior as Seen by Do Ho Suh
Ocula

Invited by the House to deliver his own interpretation of the Dior spirit for the Esprit Dior exhibition running this summer at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul, artist Do Ho Suh used fabric to reproduce the façade of 30 Avenue Montaigne down to the smallest detail.

Alongside works by Lee Bul, Kiwon Park, Heryun Kim and Seonghi Bahk, Suh's installation celebrates the transformations Dior has undergone over the years. According to Florence Muller, fashion historian and curator of the exhibition, the collaboration between the brand and the artists was a natural development given the history of both Dior and Korea as champions of art, culture and fashion. “It’s a way of creating an encounter with Korean culture and a way of building waves from France through Korea and to create a dialogue," Muller said. “All the artists are very sophisticated and it’s similar to the process of creating haute couture... They have natural links with the Dior world.”
