Lehmann Maupin presents Planet Caravan, the first Hong Kong exhibition by Thai artist Udomsak Krisanamis from November 7 to December 20, 2014. Known for his abstract paintings using everyday materials, Krisanamis will debut a new body of work at Lehmann Maupin’s Hong Kong gallery. The artist will be present for an opening reception on Friday, November 7 from 6 – 8 PM.

Using newspapers, supermarket flyers, noodles, and cellophane, collaged with traditional mediums of oil and acrylic paint, Krisanamis decontextualizes these easily accessible materials and reduces them to their formal elements, resulting in layered and richly textured abstract compositions. Found objects including plywood and fiberglass tape are incorporated and frequently used in the artist’s newest paintings in the exhibition.
