Lehmann Maupin is pleased to announce the first ever one-person exhibition in New York by artist Jeffrey Vallance. Vallance has been exhibiting internationally for twenty years. In 1994, Art Issues Los Angeles published a collection of Vallance's writings from 1978 to 1994 called "The World of Jeffrey Vallance".

Jeffrey Vallance was born in Torrance California and studied at Cal State and the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles. Since his beginnings as an artists, Jeffrey Vallance has been a tireless researcher. His extensive research into the Shroud of Turin has opened up many lines of inquiry from the Veil of Veronica to the Lance of St. Longinus to Richard Nixon to Mexican wrestler Superbarrio to the King of Tonga. The projects have taken him around the globe to get direct contact with these personalities and objects. His work based upon his findings takes many forms: paintings, sculpture, video, installation and published writings in popular and paranormal journals such as the Fortean Times. In 1995, Vallance left Los Angeles for Las Vegas which brought his studies in a new direction. He has been curating art installation in venues such as the Liberace Museum and Ron Lee's World of Clowns Museum.
