For the gallery’s first participation in Art Busan & design 2020, Lehmann Maupin is pleased to present an exhibition of paintings, sculptures, and works on paper by McArthur Binion, Lee Bul, Billy Childish, Mary Corse, Teresita Fernández, Nicholas Hlobo, OSGEMEOS, Lari Pittman, David Salle, Do Ho Suh, and Erwin Wurm.

Merging the conceptual and the material within her Dark Earth series, Teresita Fernández sculpts raw charcoal into sumptuously textured, abstracted images that challenge conventional notions of landscape art traditions. These panoramic scenes expand and contract to suggest ancient mountain ranges, bodies of flowing water, subterranean minerals, radiant skies, and the immensity of the cosmos. Currently, Fernandez is the subject of a mid-career survey exhibition, Elemental, at the Phoenix Art Museum, AZ, coorganized with Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), and an upcoming solo exhibition at Lehmann Maupin in New York.
