Lehmann Maupin returns to Art Basel Paris (booth C35) with a presentation that features new and recent work by gallery artists. A focus of the presentation includes artists with major current and forthcoming institutional exhibitions across Europe, Asia, and the United States.

Anchoring the gallery’s booth are new works by French-Algerian artist Kader Attia, coinciding with his two-person exhibition with Elizabeth Peyton at the Louvre, Hosts at the Louvre, which presents works created during their two-year residency at the museum. For more than 20 years, Attia’s practice has been rooted in notions of injury and repair through works that span photography, sculpture, installation, and video. His work examines how societies and individuals bear the marks of historical trauma—and how those wounds are "repaired," though never erased. Two new works on view extend Attia’s exploration of repair and draw on his Louvre residency. Inspired by the convex mirrors that appear throughout paintings since the 16th century, the works turn the viewer into part of the artwork, reflecting their presence back to them. The presentation coincides with Attia’s inclusion in the 61st Venice Biennale and comes ahead of his curatorial debut at the Kochi Biennale in 2027.
